A: Yes. You can also upload pictures via FTP. However you will need to rename these pictures in a specific way to have them linked to the items in the database. For each item there are 3 images: large(l), medium(m) and small(s)
All items have internal item number 900x
such as 9002, 9003...90010 etc

Cart renames uploaded images into its format: size_image#_item#(without 900
prefix).file_extension

Example: 1st large image for item 9002: l_12.jpg
1st medium image for item 3: m_13.jpg
1st small image for item 3: s_13.jpg

You would have to rename your images (make at least large images) into this
format and upload via FTP if you prefer this method.
